Clinical Microbiology, Introduction to Infectious Diseases: I

This course introduces the student to the basic concepts of microbiology with emphasis on the structure, growth, metabolism and genetics of bacteria. Host-parasite relationships of representative bacterial, fungal, viral, and protozoan pathogens are examined. A survey of microbial diseases includes modes of transmission, symptoms, diagnosis, physical and chemical methods of disinfection, sterilization and treatment. Presentations include lecture, laboratory and case studies. prerequisites BC511, PH521, PH612

Infectious Diseases II

This course is a continuation of MB521. Common infectious diseases are presented from a microbiological perspective.

MICROBIOLOGY 623
Public Health I

This course covers the current environmental and public health concerns and issues. The course integrates health with diet, air and water pollutants, noise and substance abuse, compares community hygiene and industrial hygiene, defines epidemiology, and recognition of major communicable and non-communicable diseases. Prerequisite MB612.

Public Health II: Community Health and Wellness

This course emphasizes interventions which promote wellness and prevent disease. Students will learn health risk assessment which will help motivate patients to make lifestyle chabges that promote wellness and prevent disease.
