Recent Internships:
Mekleat Sahle (IPED '07) and Uddip Gajurel (IPED '07) have received internships at General Electric.
Jorge Bustamante (IPED '07)has been offered at internship at the Organization of American States.
Amel Music (IPED '06) currently is interning at the CT State Police Department.
Jaeyoung Kim (IPED '07) completed an internship at Standard & Poor's.
Chris Calabrese (IPED '08) worked as a district leader for the Ned Lamont Campaign.
Obakeng Phiri (IPED '07) completed at Congressman Shays office.
Giovanni Scaringi (IPED '07) is serving as an intern in the communications office of Bridgeport mayor John Fabrizi.

Dr. Thomas J. Ward recently visited Japan and met several International College Graduates.
International College Graduates in the Workplace:
Fuyuka Nakano, a 2002 graduate of the Social Science/International Studies program, went on to earn a graduate degree in International Development at the University of Amsterdam in 2005 and is currently working as an analyst for the Bank of America.
Tsurue Nakano, a 2000 graduate of the International Political Economy & Diplomacy program, went on to earn a Masters degree in International Political Economy and Development at Fordham and is now working as an associate for Goldman Sachs in Tokyo.
Harumi Kawamura, a 2002 graduate of the World Religions program, who went on to earn a Masters degree at Harvard University’s Divinity School, recently married and is working at Goldman Sachs in Tokyo.
Hillary Pankey, a 2007 graduate of the International Political Economy & Diplomacy and the World Religions program, is now working in the Trust Division of UBS Warburg, the Swiss Bank in Stamford, Connecticut.
Mekleat Sahle Selassie Sirhak, a 2007 graduate of the International Political Economy & Diplomacy program, has been hired by BNY-Mellon.
Jorge Bustamente, a 2006 graduate of the International Political Economy & Diplomacy program, recently completed an internship at United Nations headquarters where he assisted in the Fall proceedings of the United Nations General Assembly.
Mishiko Seino, a 2002 graduate of the Social Science/International Political Economy & Diplomacy program, is working with the United Nations Development program at United Nations headquarters.
Uddip Gajurel, a 2007 graduate in International Political Economy and Diplomacy, is working at General Electric in Fairfield.
Nelta Sanon, a 2004 graduate in Mass Communication, is now working as a Junior publicist for AOL.
Hyun Kyu Seo, a 2007 graduate in Martial Arts Studies, is spending the current academic year at the University of Bridgeport where he is assisting in the teaching of Taekwondo and Hapkido classes. Master Seo holds a fifth degree black belt in Taekwondo and a fourth degree back belt in Hapkido.
Rubely Marte, a 2005 graduate of the International Political Economy & Diplomacy program, has recently been hired by Goldman Sachs in New York.
Grace Hwa Eun Lee, a 2005 graduate in International Political Economy & Diplomacy, is currently working in wofking in information management in the University of Bridgeport’s International Admissions Department.
Shisir Khanal, a 2003 graduate in International Political Economy & Diplomacy, went on earn a Masters degree in International Relations at Johns Hopkins and serves as the Executive Director for Sarvodaya USA, an international organization committed to Conflict Analysis and Resolution. The organization is founded by Gandhi International Peace Prize Laureate and Nobel Prize Nominee Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne.
Ashok Regmi, a 2000 graduate in International Political Economy & Diplomacy, went on to earn a Masters Degree in International Public Policy at Johns Hopkins University and currently serves as Program of the International Youth Foundation, an international non-governmental organization with branches in seventy nations around the world.
Spring 2007 Students Activities:
-Kelly Barcello pioneers criminal justice track at UB. Kelly Barcello a 2006 graduate of the University is the first UB student to have completed the B.A. in Social Science with a concentration in criminal justice, on January 23, 2007 Kelly presented her senior thesis “A socio-historical analysis of female offending” to faculty members of the International College.
Fall 2006 Students Activities:
- Mishiko Seino, a 2002 graduate in Social Science with a Minor in International Political Economy & Diplomacy has recently been selected to work for one year with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) at UN headquarters in New York. Prior to this, she was working at the Japan Mission to the United Nations.
- Jorge Bustamente (IPED '07), was selected for an internship with the Organization of American States (OAS).
- Panchali Hettiararchi (IPED '08) has been chosen to participate in the January 2 - 11 for the ADL Future Leaders Study Mission to Israel. Panchali is a Junior majoring in International Political Economy & Diplomacy.
- Nelta Sanon (MCOM '04), a 2004 graduate of the Mass Comm program, recently sent the following note to MassComm Chair Professor Yanmin Yu:
"I am a Junior publicist for Programming for AOL Music, AOL Black Voices, and AOL Kids & Teens. I can't believe I landed such a wonderful job, but I did! I am so happy here!!! I work with some of the best in the business! See what a UB education can get you?"
- In October the University of Bridgeport's Taekwondo team participated in the National Taekwondo Champtionships at Queens College and the team, headed by UB Professor and Taekwondo Grandmaster Yongbom Kim won twelve medals, including nine gold meals.
