What about accessible housing?
Bodine Hall, located at 80 University Avenue is fully accessible with ramps, elevators, bathrooms, and rooms.
How may I get a single room?
Only students who have 90 or more credits may request a single, double-as-a-single, or triple-as-a-double room.
What if I want to change rooms, halls, or roommates?
You may change rooms during the period starting after the first week of classes and ending on October 1st in the Fall semester and March 1st in the Spring semester.
Where should my mail be sent?
Your mailing address will be indicated on the housing assignment letter sent to you after you submit your contract.
Will I get cable television in my room?
All rooms are equipped with a free cable television connection, but you will need to bring your own TV set.
Will I have a phone in my room?
A free local phone connection is provided in all rooms. However, the University does not provide telephones, so you must bring your own. If you wish to make long-distance calls, you must use a phone calling card.
May I bring a car to campus?
Yes. Students may obtain a campus parking permit from Campus Security.
May I bring a computer?
Yes. All buildings have internet connections. All residence rooms are equipped with one Ethernet connection to the campus computer network, in addition to the standard phone line. We recommend that residents buy an Ethernet LAN Card, which should be 16-bit, Novell NE 2000-Compatible.
What laundry facilities are available?
Each residence hall is equipped with several washers and dryers for student use. Students are issued a laundry card at the beginning of each semester.
What are the bathrooms like?
Rooms are not equipped with their own bathrooms. Shared, single-sex bathrooms are located on every wing. There are at least three showers, toilets, and sinks in every restroom. There are shower curtains and tall doors that separate the individually partitioned showers. One bathtub is available on each floor. The restrooms are cleaned daily.
What size are the mattresses?
All beds are twin extra-long.
What about bunkable beds or lofts?
All beds have the capability of being lofted. Lofts are not included in the rooms, but you may build one yourself after you arrive. Most bed frames are 80" long, but some are 76". Your bed frame may not be removed from your room, so you must incorporate the frame into your loft design. A few beds are bunkable.
Are the rooms carpeted?
All rooms in the residence halls are uncarpeted. Students who wish to have carpeted rooms must bring their own carpets.
Do the room dimensions include closet space?
No. The room sizes listed in the residence hall descriptions do not include closet space. They are approximate and are intended to assist you in purchasing a carpet for your room if you wish. While the closet dimensions vary from building to building, the typical closet is 2' deep by 3'6" wide. Every room has one closet per person.
What type of lighting is provided in the rooms?
All rooms have fluorescent ceiling fixtures and vanities with lights mounted to the top. Halogen lamps are not permitted in the residence halls.
Are coffee pots, hot plates, or toasters allowed?
Appliances with exposed heating elements are not allowed in the residence hall rooms.
May students bring their own microwaves or refrigerators?
Students are not allowed to bring their own microwaves or refrigerators. Instead, every room is equipped with one MicroFridge, a small microwave, freezer and refrigerator combination. Shared kitchen facilities are also available in all the residence halls.
May I paint my own room?
Yes, but it must be approved by the Director of Residential Life both before and after painting.
May I bring my own furniture?
Yes. You may supplement existing furniture in your room, but we encourage you to wait until you arrive to determine what, if any, additional furniture items you may need. You may not remove any existing furniture from your room.
Which buildings have elevators?
Bodine the high-rise structure, have passenger elevators which residents may use daily. Barnum and Seeley Halls, both four-story buildings, have one freight elevator each. Students may use this freight elevator for moving in and out of the residence halls, for special medical needs, or for other approved usages.
Is there storage space in the residence halls?
No.
Is there housing for married students?
No.
May I bring my pet?
The only pets allowed in the residence halls are fish in tanks of 10 gallons or less.
