Director's Message

Dear Prospective Students,

As the Director of Residential Life and Judicial Affairs, I am very interested in creating an "Ethos" on campus where professors enjoy coming into the residence halls to give programs, students attend academic programs sponsored by their residential advisors, and professors and students interact on a daily basis inside and outside the classroom.

To accomplish this goal, each RA is responsible for conducting two programs per semester on an academic topic by either bringing professors into the residence halls to conduct programs or by conducting academic programs themselves. Faculty members who are involved in conducting programs in the halls will be provided dinner or lunch to encourage more interaction between students and faculty outside the classroom.

In addition to this requirement, each RA is also responsible for conducting at least one social program per month (to build camaraderie on the floor), another educational program per month, and at least one community service project per month.

My staff and I are creating the most enjoyable and educational living environment on campus for you and welcome any and all suggestions you may have.

When you come to the University of Bridgeport, you are not only enrolling in an American university, you are taking part in an educational experience with students from seventy-five countries from around the world.

I look forward to seeing you next semester. Please keep in touch as you apply to school and if you have any questions, use the e-mail address to contact me.

Sincerely,

David Oestreicher
Director of Residential Life
