The University of Bridgeport (UB) has signed an articulation agreement with York College-City University of New York (CUNY) that makes it easier for CUNY students to gain admission to all of UB’s six graduate health science programs with an opportunity to earn scholarships for professional training.

Dr. David M. Brady, Vice Provost of UB Division of Health Sciences, said the agreement is meant to “create pathways for students interested in health care professions. We are specifically seeking motivated quality students from diverse backgrounds in order to create a future healthcare workforce that is more reflective of the populations that they serve.”

The agreement outlines specific courses and academic requirements that students must complete at York College before being eligible for entry at UB’s Colleges of Naturopathic Medicine and Chiropractic, Fones School of Dental Hygiene, the Human Nutrition Institute, the Physician Assistant Institute, or Acupuncture Institute. Students who fulfill various requirements for the respective UB programs can qualify to earn one-time merit scholarships between $1,750 to $2,500, depending on their GPA.

The UB-York articulation agreement is the first between the two schools, although it is not the first time that UB, a private university, has collaborated with a public college or university. In 2010, UB and UConn created an innovative pre-pharmacy program that facilitates UB students entry to the UConn School of Pharmacy.
