University of Bridgeport writing professor Amy Nawrocki’s second book of poetry, Nomad’s End, has been published by Finishing Line Press.

Amy Nawrocki, University of Bridgeport writing professor Nawrocki will read from the anthology on April 21, 2011 at Necessary Voices, the UB English Department’s recently launched series on writing and the arts. For details about the reading and other Necessary Voices programming, go to www.bridgeport.edu/voices.

An award-winning poet, Nawrocki’s crisp, direct writing captures the New England landscape often featured in her poems while exploring themes of the passage of time, life, and death.

In Nomad’s End, Nawrocki draws on the theme of travel to consider moments between past and present and the possibility of choices made.

In “The Fable of Travel” she writes: “. . . to the north, / towns open like day lilies, while opposite, wave after wave / leave the blessed impression of infinity. / To partake in the dance of contrast, / we stop the car to wade in ocean water / and drink the copper sky.”

Nawrocki’s previous work has appeared in Modern English Tanka, Blood Orange Review, and Umbrella, among other publications.
