The University of Bridgeport (UB) is proud to announce that on Sunday, September 22 it will join City of Bridgeport dignitaries to formally dedicate a new softball field to be used by the University’s softball program and community softball teams. The event begins at 9:30 a.m.

The building of the field, known for the present time as Diamond 2, is a joint effort between the University and the city.

It is located in Seaside Park, adjacent to the UB Athletic Department’s main offices in Hubbell Gymnasium. The new field includes covered, spacious dugouts and enclosed bullpens.

Three games will take place after the ribbon-cutting to christen the facility. At 10:30 a.m. the UB Purple Knights will take on Concordia College. At 12:30 p.m., Concordia will face Pace University, and the day will wrap up with the Purple Knights facing Pace at 3 p.m.

“This field will be a huge plus for both our softball program and the Bridgeport community,” said UB Director of Athletics Jay Moran, “I would like to thank both the City of Bridgeport and the University for joining together and doing such a fine job on the facility to give us a real showplace to call home.”
