Russel Marz, ND

Presenting “Blue Zones:  Optimal Health & Longevity?”  (2 CEUs)


The “Blue Zones” are five specific locations where people routinely live into their nineties, and they have the most centenarians, per capita, in the world!  In this presentation, Dr. Marz will analyze the excellent health and longevity of those living in the Blue Zones, including their macro/micro/phytonutrient intake and lifestyles.

Dr. Marz has taught clinical nutrition at various medical schools as an associate professor for over 25 years. He is the author of a 600-page clinically oriented textbook in clinical nutrition, Medical Nutrition from Marz, 2nd edition. He earned a master’s degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in 1992.  Since 1990 he has been in private practice at the “Tabor Hill Clinic” in Portland, OR where he is medical director.  In 1985 he founded Omnivite Nutrition Inc., a company that formulates unique nutritional formulas. He is currently the patent owner of 8 formulations. Aside from his private practice, formulation designing and teaching, Dr. Marz has been a competitive triathlete for 27 years in over 300 triathlons and is a two-time winner of the Mt. Man competition in Great Falls, MT. leonardFor more than 45 years, Dr. Leonard John Faye has led the transformation from the static listing based phase of chiropractic development to the dynamic, functional paradigm.  The author of hundreds of published articles, chapters and the book Good Bye Back Pain! (Book Surge Publishing), Dr. Faye has organized technique chaos into a biomechanical model. In addition to his published writing, Dr. Faye has also presented more than 400 seminars all over the world and delivered lectures to undergraduate and postgraduate students since 1967.  Professional Recognition:

  • The Henri Gillet D.C. Award of Excellence given by the Belgian Chiropractors Association.
  • The first chiropractor ever to be appointed by the Canadian Track and Field Team for the 1984 Olympics.

Joel Evans, MD

Presenting:  “Food Sensitivity and Increased Intestinal Permeability:  It’s More than a Gut Issue.”  (1 CEU)


joel evansDr. Evans will discuss the latest literature on the myriad of ways that food sensitivities are related to symptoms and systemic illness from reproductive issues to cancers.  The etiology of food sensitivities and the downstream effect of intestinal permeability will be discussed.

Joel M. Evans, M.D., a board-certified OB/GYN and international lecturer, is the Director of The Center for Functional Medicine in Stamford, CT.  He is a member of the senior faculty of two of the most recognized and prestigious teaching institutions in integrative medicine:  The Institute for Functional Medicine and the Center for Mind/Body Medicine.  He continues to serve as the “external lead” of the IFM Advanced Practice Module in Hormone Health since its inception in 2011.  Dr. Evans was honored to speak at the United Nations on the topic of Prenatal Origins of Violence, and his book on the holistic approach to pregnancy, The Whole Pregnancy Handbook, has received widespread critical acclaim.  Dr. Evans serves as a peer reviewer for Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine and Global Advances in Health and Medicine and is a member of the editorial advisory board of Holistic Primary Care.

Presenting: “The biopsychosocial model and behavioral approaches in the comprehensive management of patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain. Applying principles of cognitive behavioral therapy-chronic pain for the non-mental health provider” (1 CEU)

anthonyIn 2004, Anthony Lisi, D.C., West ’96, became the first chiropractor appointed to the medical staff of the Veterans Administration’s Connecticut Healthcare System, where he developed processes for integrating hospital-based clinical services and inter-professional clinical education.  Three years later, Dr. Lisi was named national director of chiropractic services for the Veterans Health Administration, a role in which he oversees all national programmatic issues for chiropractic services in the largest integrated healthcare system in the U.S.  The American Chiropractic Association recently saluted Dr. Lisi’s distinguished career of service by presenting him with the “Chiropractor of the Year” award, the ACA’s highest honor, during special ceremonies at the annual House of Delegates meeting in Washington, D.C.  The VA began providing chiropractic care in 2004 with 26 clinics caring for 4,000 Veterans. Since then, it has grown to 79 clinics, offering care to more than 44,000 Veterans annually.

amyThis lecture will enable the practitioner to understand the nuanced differences among common childhood psychological disorders.  A roadmap for successful naturopathic treatment, including therapies, parenting approaches and broader support measures for families of these children will be offered.

Dr. Amy Rothenberg, the AANP 2017 Physician of the Year, practices in Connecticut She spearheaded the effort to gain licensure for Naturopathic Physicians in the state of Massachusetts. Dr. Rothenberg blogs for the Huffington Post and enjoys writing and speaking on topics in natural medicine to colleagues, lay people, medical students and in industry. Her book, The A Cappella Singer Who Lost Her Voice & Other Stories From Natural Medicine, was published in 2010. Dr. Rothenberg and her husband Paul Herscu, ND, MPH, have taught 1000s of students and doctors classical homeopathy across the US & abroad through the New England School of Homeopathy, helping practitioners grasp both the broadest and most detailed understanding of homeopathy. donaldDr. Donald Murphy is the Clinical Director of the Rhode Island Spine Center. He is on the Clinical Faculty at Alpert Medical School of Brown University as well as lecturing frequently at several chiropractic colleges. He has received postgraduate training in neurology, rehabilitation and sports medicine as well as in the McKenzie method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT). He lectures throughout the world on various topics related to back painneck pain and headaches.
