UPDATE: 11/2 3:00PM
Due to mechanical problems caused by the hurricane, the University of Bridgeport Health Sciences Clinics, located on the Bridgeport Main Campus, 60 Lafayette Street will be closed effective immediately through Wednesday, November 7. Patients with appointments can expect to be contacted by clinic staff to reschedule appointments.

For the most up-to-date information we will post notices on the University of Bridgeport website (www.bridgeport.edu), myUB portal and the Emergency Notification Phone Line (203-576-4159).


UPDATE: 11/1 1:00PM
Power has been restored to the University of Bridgeport campus. Only students who were residing in the shelters may return to the residence halls at this time. Evacuated students from North and South Halls will continue to be sheltered at the Student Center until heating and hot water are restored in those buildings. Students who are in the shelter and live off-campus in the immediate vicinity may continue to stay in the shelter until power is restored in their residence.

To allow for residential life to provide adequate staffing, all other students who left campus may return after 12noon on Saturday, November 3. Classes will resume on Monday, November 5.

Marina Dining Hall will continue to provide free meals to all students through dinner on Sunday, November 4. Please bring UB ID for access to the dining hall.

UPDATE: 11/1 10:00AM

The University is working to get all students who have been in shelter back to their residence halls today. All other students may return after noon on Saturday, November 3.

UPDATE: 10/31 9:00PM
Power has been restored to the University of Bridgeport campus in Bridgeport. Students have returned from the shelter in Bridgeport and students who have found shelter elsewhere may also now return. Staff who are safely able to report to work on Thursday, November 1 may do so. Classes remain canceled until Monday, November 5, all campuses.

UPDATE: 10/31 4:30PM

Administrative staff should report to work tomorrow, Thursday, 11/1, provided that they can safely get to campus but should check the UB Emergency Notification Hotline before traveling to work to ensure that power has been restored to campus. UPDATE: 10/31 1:00PM
Currently, the University of Bridgeport is still without power. All classes have been canceled (including at the Waterbury and Stamford campuses) until Monday, November 5. All students who had been staying at emergency shelters have returned to campus and will now stay at the Student Center (which has temporary power) until power is resumed campus-wide. Fortunately, the university did not sustain any major damage from the storm. The university is being secured by our Campus Security force as well as National Guard forces. Marina Dining Hall is open and serving free meals to all students and staff who are residing in the Student Center or live in the immediate vicinity. Please continue to check the University of Bridgeport website, the myUB portal as well as the Emergency Notification Hotline (203-576-4159) for additional updates. Thank you.

UPDATE: 10/31 9:40AM
As of 9:40 a.m. on Wednesday, October 31, the University of Bridgeport is still without power. We are awaiting word from United Illuminating as to when our power will be restored. Classes are canceled for today and staff should not report to work. We are in the process of securing temporary power for the Student Center and hope to bring students who are currently in shelters to the Student Center as soon as possible. Students who have returned home or found other accommodations should remain where they are until further notice. For those who are essential workers or still on campus, Marina Dining Hall is open and providing meal service. We will provide another update about the situation at 1:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, October 31.

UPDATE: 10/31 6:40AM
Due to lack of power, only essential workers need to report to the University of Bridgeport today, Wednesday October 31.  All classes on all campuses are canceled today.

UPDATE: 10/30 2:20PM
All classes will be canceled at the University of Bridgeport (all campuses) tomorrow, Wednesday, October 31. Administrative staff should report to work provided that they can safely get to campus but should check the UB Emergency Notification Hotline at 203-576-4159 before traveling to work, to ensure that power has been restored to campus. UPDATE: 10/28 3:30PM
We are revising the notice distributed yesterday to include the closing of the University of Bridgeport, Stamford and Waterbury Centers as well as the Main Bridgeport Campus on Monday, October 29, and Tuesday, October 30.

Only essential offices will be staffed on the main Bridgeport Campus during this period.

Residential students who are able to go home may wish to consider doing so during the time that classes are canceled.

UPDATE: 10/28 2:00PM
Due to the impending storm, there will be a MANDATORY EVACUATION of the University of Bridgeport campus today, Sunday, October 28 at 4:00pm.  All residents of North/South Hall will meet at 4:00pm at the corner of Broad and University Avenues to travel by bus to shelter at Cesar Batalla Elementary School in Bridgeport.  Residents of all other halls, as well as students who live off-campus in the immediate vicinity, will meet at 4:00pm in front of Marina Dining Hall to travel to shelter at Sacred Heart University.

Please note, it is likely that we will be at a shelter for several days.  You will be provided a place to sleep and basic meals.  You are permitted to bring ONE small bag with you and please pack important paperwork, medications, cell phone/computers/chargers, sheets, a pillow and a change of clothes.

If you have the ability to go home or to another location, please do so immediately.

RE: Due to the Approaching Storm - We are Canceling Classes October 29 and October 30.

Due to the approaching storm, all classes and University activities and events, on the Bridgeport Campus, are canceled on Monday, October 29, and Tuesday, October 30. The Stamford and Waterbury Centers will remain open unless we notify you otherwise.
 
Only essential offices will be staffed on the main Bridgeport Campus during this period.

Residential students who are able to do so are encouraged to go home during the time that classes are canceled.
