UB counselor offers help for those
feeling stress after terrorist attacks

Are you jumpy? On edge? Having trouble sleeping? Or scary dreams? Is it harder to concentrate. Or study? It could be the emotional fallout from the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and their aftermath.

How do you recover?

Carole Weiner, a licensed marriage and family therapist who runs the counseling services in the University of Bridgeport’s student development division, says the best way is “to talk with others about your feelings and thoughts.

"We’ve all gone through this trauma together. People will do best if they can share their feelings with people they trust."

Weiner is trying to make that happen quickly for those feeling the stress brought on by the hijack and anthrax terrors. She’s holding office hours and forming a group to help members of the UB community deal with the emotional trauma from the attacks.

The sessions are on Wednesdays, beginning Oct. 31, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. They are open to all on campus and are free. The group meets in Room 119 of the Health Science Center (Warner Hall), 60 Lafayette St.

Weiner asks those interested in attending, or wanting more details, to call her at (203) 576-4454.
