President of the United Nations General Assembly
To Speak on Campus
Mr. Harri Holkeri, the President of the fifty-fifth session of the United Nations General Assembly - the Millennium Assembly - will give a lecture on the UB campus Thursday, February 22, at 8:00 PM, Carlson Hall, Room 152.
Mr. Holkeri brings a wealth of political experience to his UN position, as well as a reputation as a skilled mediator and consensus builder. He was Finland's Prime Minister from 1987 to 1991, and for over four decades has served his country and the international community in several political and economic posts. (see attached CV).
Mr. Holkeri will be hosted on the UB campus by the Student Council on Foreign Relations and by the New England Center for International and Regional studies. The New England Center is headed by Dr. Stoyan Ganev, who previously served as the President of the forty-seventh session of the United Nations General Assembly.
