Summer Institutes

The Division of Counseling and Human Resources will offer a series of four, one-week seminars this summer focusing on wellness and spirituality. "We have put together four dynamic courses taught by individuals who are leaders in their fields. These are 'must' courses for those students and professionals working in the fields of counseling and education,"said Prof. Donna Phillips, Division of Human Services.

The schedule is as follows:

  • June 26-30 "Youth at Risk" Dr. David Capuzzi
  • "Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse," July 10-14 Dr. Catherine Roland
  • "Men-in-Pause," July 17-21 Dr. Ron Mercer
  • "Spirituality and Psychotherapy" July 24-28, Dr. Sandra Hurlong

All course fees (credit or CEUs) must be received by May 31. Classes are each day from 9 AM to 5 PM in Carlson Hall. For more information contact Prof. Phillips at 203-576-4171 or e-mail to dphill@ bridgeport.edu.


School of Education

Four courses are being offered this summer by the School of Education. They are geared toward classroom teachers who may be interested in becoming Department Chairs or improving their leadership skills. The courses are:

  • "Teacher Leadership," July 5-18 ( 6 credits or CEUs)
  • "Long Island Sound In the Classroom," June 26-30 Prof. Robert Singletary "
  • "Planet Earth: Earthly Wonders and Our Wonderful Earth" July 5-11, Prof. John Rock
  • "Writing Institute," July 6, 7,10,11 Taught by elementary teachers Julie Phares and Judy Wren.
