 Campus Beautification In
action!
As part of the
campus beautification process, twenty student
volunteers and staff members met outside
Carstensen Hall on Thursday, March 16, to prune
trees along Pedestrian Mall.
Armed with pruning clippers and saws, and under
the guidance of Dr. Kyung Hee Chin, Executive
Dean of the Division of Health Sciences, and
Bruce Laberee, a licensed arborist, they pruned
thirty trees between Carstensen Hall and Park
Avenue. Overgrown branches were trimmed, three
major rotten branches removed, and a small, dead
dogwood tree in front of the Student Center was
uprooted.
In addition, students and staff raked debris from
Carstensen Hall to complete an earlier volunteer
project that had removed the fence separating
Carsten-sen Hall, the religious center on campus,
from the Student Center. After four hours of hard
work, everyone enjoyed pizza. The UB Marshals, a
campus cleaning club, helped organize the event.
