Students honored for contributions to community life at university
everal dozen students were honored in May for their contributions to the civil life of the UB student community. The awards were presented by Edina Oestreicher, director of the Office of Student Programming and Development.

In addition to citations for campus involvement, a number of students were presented special awards for their outstanding contributions. They were:
Tamami Kawamura, freshman from Chicago; Sarah Osborne, sophomore from Denver, Colo.; Bei Wang, junior from China; and Floni Bajraktari, senior from Kosovo, Yugoslavia.
Brendon Boyce, a graduating senior from New Rochelle, N.Y., was the recipient of the Shining Knight Spirit Award.
The Dean's Award went to New Havener Trinity Belgrave, who in addition to many other campus activities was editor of the weekly student newspaper, the Scribe.
Humberto Ciffoni received the highest of all campus honors, the President's Award. A top student and talented guitarist from Venezuela, Ciffoni, as president of the Latin American Club, led a number of outstanding activities, including the traditional dance-party, Caliente. He also was manager of the student lounge, the Twisted Café, and organized the university's ski trip.
