Steen,
Lee win top student awards

Steen was presented with the President's Award in
the spring. The award was made by President Neil Salonen,
honoring Valerie as the graduating student who made outstanding
contributions to the university.
Also at the awards ceremony, the Dean's
Award was presented by Dean of Students Janet Merritt
to Jee Eun Lee for her extraordinary participation
in many aspects of student life and her service to the
university.
Dusan Bugunovic received the
Rookie of the Year Award. It is made to a first-year student
who achieves academic success and who makes significant
contributions to university life.
The Shining Knight Spirit Award went
to Chaelyn Lombardo and Floni Bajraktari
for their high spirit and enthusiasm. Shisir Khanal
and Jamal Jamerson won the Martin Luther King Award
for their work in bridging the many cultures represented
at UB, and Tanique Williams, for all her volunteer
efforts, was awarded the Selma Rooney Volunteer Service
Award.
Also during the program, Jee Eun
Lee, president of the Student Congress, turned over
the reins of the organization to her successor, Esther
Bessel.
