The UN Ambassador for Turkmenistan receives honors on behalf of President Saparmurat Niyazov.

n December 6, 2000, the University of Bridgeport honored His Excellency Saparmurat Niyazov, president of the Republic of Turkmenistan. The Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations, Ambassador Aksoltan Ataeva, accepted the honorary degree on behalf of the president of Turkmenistan at a convocation luncheon at Waldemere Hall.

This coming May will mark the one-year anniversary of President and Ms. Salonen’s move into Waldemere Hall. With an average of three public events a week at Waldemere to think about and several trips abroad during the last year, Ms. Salonen is keeping up a hectic pace as she carves out her role as the first lady of UB.
