The International College of UB


he International College of the University of Bridgeport has recently been established with Dr. Thomas Ward appointed as its Dean.
The International College offers majors in International Political Economy and Diplomacy, Social Sciences, and in World Religions. Students can do a double major in any of these disciplines during their four years at UB. In conjunction with the School of Business it is now also possible for students of the College to complete a B.A. in any of these disciplines as well as an M.B.A. in five years. Recent agreements have also been reached to allow students of the International College to do a minor in Computer Science or a minor in Mass Communications while completing their four-year undergraduate major in the International College. ick Allen, Charles A. Dana Professor of English and Director of Creative Writing, has new poems recently published or soon forthcoming from many of the nation's leading literary magazines, including The New Republic, the Sewanee Review, The Hudson Review, American Arts Quarterly, The Antioch Review, Raritan, The Seneca Review, The Cortland Review, Poetry, Salmagundi and others.
The autumn issue of The Gettysburg Review - one of America's premier literary quarterlies - features seven pages of poetry by Allen, including "The Father Suite", which lead the issue's poetry selections. Allen has also published an extensive essay on the information explosion entitled, "Sherlock Holmes' Lesson", in The World & I magazine. For the third time in the last two years, Garrison Keeler of Prairie Home Companion radio fame recently featured the reading of an Allen poem on National Public Radio, taking the poem from Allen's sixth collection of poetry, Ode to the Cold War: Poems New and Selected, published by Sarabande Books.
