The UB Alumni Association heard from their newly elected President Laurence Wanser and gave awards to five distinguished alumni. The meeting took place on June 15 at Waldemere Hall. The following alumni received special recognition for their achievements and their support of the Alumni Association.

ABRAHAM I. GORDON: Abe is a graduate of the Class of '51. He then went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the Duke University School of Law. He is an active member of the University of Bridgeport Board of Trustees. Abe and his wife Marilyn have devoted many years of service to Rotary International and Abe is past president of the Rotary Club of Bridgeport. He is past president of the Bridgeport Heart Association and for over thirty years has been a volunteer boat crew member and aircraft pilot for the US Coast Guard search and rescue.

STEPHEN D'AGOSTINO: Steve graduated from UB in 1985 and is currently enrolled in our MBA weekend program. While at UB he was the captain of the golf team for two years and also studied jazz. He still plays guitar and is lead singer with a local band. He is the manager of Product Development at the Swiss Army Brand watch division. Steve is a past president of the Tashua Knolls Men's Golf Club in Trumbull.

CYNTHIA HOWARD: Cynthia, class of '81 and '96, is currently the Director of the Fones School of Dental Hygiene here at UB. She was in private practice before teaching at UB as a clinical instructor. She earned her Master's of Education in '96 at UB. She is a member of the American Dental Hygienists Association and is active in the Bridgeport chapter.

RICHARD E. SHEPARD: Dick is an active member of the UB Alumni Association and jogs three miles to the meetings! He was a guidance counselor for 35 years at Central High School in Bridgeport. Dick received many awards for his outstanding abilities, including Counselor of the Year in New England and Teacher of the Year in Bridgeport. He is a summa cum laude graduate of the class of '59.

SCOTT P. WASSELL: Scott is a graduate with the class of '85, receiving a BS in Industrial Design. The following year he was hired by General Motors Design Center and is currently the Lead Exterior Designer on the next Cadillac Seville.
