Cooper Hall is located adjacent to Marina Dining Hall and is only a few steps away from Seaside Park. Recently renovated to include air conditioning, Cooper Hall is a traditional undergraduate co-ed style residence hall that houses approximately 100 students. The first floor of Cooper Hall is utilized as classroom space for the ELI program at the university and residential students live on the upper three floors. Each floor provides students with common area lounge space, a kitchenette area and laundry machine access.
Cooper Hall’s staff consists of 5 Resident Assistants (RA) who are supervised by a Resident Director (RD). The staff’s goal is to integrate both an academic and residential approach to the hall community as well as assist the residents in their educational, social, cultural and personal growth. The staff is to be used as a resource in a collaborative approach with residents to assist with the challenges of their new surroundings as well as to create a positive and academically centered community atmosphere. Residents of Cooper Hall are expected to contribute and respect others in the hall community.
Cooper Hall offers standard double rooms with a limited number of single rooms.
Each student receives the following:
Each room includes connections for cable and hi-speed internet (students must bring their own cable cord and Ethernet cable). Additionally, each room is equipped with a micro-fridge unit (combination of a fridge/freeze/microwave) for shared use by the students in the room. Knowing that fire safety is an important concern, all residence halls are equipped with smoke detectors with voice evacuation systems.
The front desk of the hall is managed 24 hrs. a day by Guest Relations Associates and Campus Security who coordinate the guest visitation process and serve as a resource for student concerns.
