The primary purpose for the imposition of discipline in the University Student Conduct System is to protect the health, welfare, safety and educational mission of the University community. The university’s student conduct system emphasizes the development of each individual’s acceptance of his or her own personal and social responsibilities.
An educational and humanistic approach to discipline is employed whenever possible. The student conduct system and appeals processes are designed to provide and help maintain an atmosphere within the University community that is conducive to academic pursuits. Severe disciplinary action against a student, such as separation, is considered and invoked only when the University’s mission is jeopardized by the student’s conduct.
