The Student Leadership Awards Banquet is a ceremony hosted by the University of Bridgeport to recognize individuals, as well as clubs and organizations, for the impact they make on campus culture and student life.

Student Employee of the Year: Kay Anna Pusey

Graduate Assistant of the Year: Alisha Shakya

Advisor of the Year Award: Dr. Tim Raynor

Awarded to a faculty/staff member that goes above and beyond to increase the effectiveness of a student club/organization as their advisor

Community Service Award: BuildOn

Individual/club that serves the community in different ways to create an impact

Scholar Citizen Award: Milana Yemelyanova

Student (undergraduate or graduate) who shows active and systematic participation in academic and non-academic development

Shining Knight Spirit Award: Abigail Haughton

Respects and appreciates the mission of UB and evokes passion for necessary change

Demonstrates enthusiasm toward UB and is devoted to the quality of life at UB

Shows spirit and pride for UB by acting as a positive role model for their peers

Supports UB programs, including club, organization, and sporting events

All UB full-time undergraduate and graduate students eligible

Purple Knight Partnership Award: Office of Special Events

UB office or department or individual who goes above and beyond to assist the development of students and supports student involvement

Greek Member of the Year Award: Ashlica Malcolm

Respects and appreciates the mission of his or her fraternity or sorority, and executes this goal for UB

Excels in the area of community service and Greek involvement; ability to work with and lead others

Has shown significant personal growth over time, built relationships, and gained respect from UB Community

Campus Program of the Year: Student Programming Board, Homecoming Pep Rally

Awarded to an outstanding program sponsored or co-sponsored by any recognized University of Bridgeport student club or organization

Outstanding Cultural Club of the Year: Indian Students Association

Awarded to an organization which has demonstrated outstanding achievements and contributions and increased cultural awareness on campus

Greek Organization of the Year: Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

Awarded to a Greek organization that has demonstrated outstanding achievements and contributions to Greek Life and UB

Outstanding Club of the Year: Business Club

Has been highly involved, present, visible, and active in the UB Community

Has actively engaged the community through fulfilling its organization’s mission and goals

Through dedication and work they have gained respect and recognition from peer organizations, university departments, and the UB Community.

Has a solid commitment to recruit, retain, train and develop its members through various opportunities.

Has made curricular and co-curricular contributions and positive change to better UB

Outstanding Involvement by a First Year Student: Anastasiia Babenko, Myranda Burkit

Outstanding Involvement by a Sophomore Student: Richard Greo, Tiara Averhart

Recipient is a student that makes a positive impact and shows pride for UB in various ways

President’s Award (Exceptional Senior Student): Melissa Paredes

Highest Award given to a UB Undergraduate Student

Awarded to a fourth year undergraduate student who has made an exceptional contribution and impact on many aspects of student life and service to UB

Has the ability to work with and lead peers and demonstrates commendable leadership qualities

Has built relationships and gained respect from students, faculty, and staff
