International Festival Week

The 39th annual International Festival week (April 6th-11th) is a week of interactive events celebrating the University of Bridgeport's rich international culture. The week culminates in the International Festival at 7:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 11 in Mertens Theater (ABC Building).  Student performers will share songs, dance and expressions of international culture. The International Festival events are noted below with bright blue font.  All events are free and open to the public.

Executive Speaker Series

On Tuesday, April 21 from 5:30 - 7:30 P.M. Ted Virtue from MidOcean Partners will be presenting, "How to Succeed on Wall Street in Financial Services" and "Lessons on How to Get a Job and Optimize Your Career" in the Jacobson Lecture Hall

Passover Seder

Come experience a traditional Passover dinner on April 6 at 5:00 P.M. in the Great Room while learning about traditions from Jewish communities around the world. The Seder will be lead by blogger and YouTube sensation, MaTishtana. Hosted by the Office of Campus Activities & Civic Engagement.  All are welcome!

27th Annual Hunger Cleanup

Join students from Fairfield University, Sacred Heart University and Fordham University to make a difference in Bridgeport by cleaning up the area around UB and Seaside Park on April 18 at 9:00 A.M.

Monday, April 6

11:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. Come to the Discovery Pavilion  for a Foreign Language Lecture presented by Dr. Yanmin Yu, Jeanette Smith, Jingping Fang and Wei Cui. The lecture will have a simultaneous translation between Mandarin and English that students can toggle through a provided headset. 

12:00 - 1:15 P.M. Zipcar will have a table presenting information about their services in the Hub.

12:15 - 6:00 P.M. Come sign up for the Silent Library, a game where students will try to remain quiet while people try to make them laugh. The Black Student Alliance will be in the Hub during lunch and dinner to sign students up for the Silent Library. 

3:00 P.M Men's Baseball vs. Mercy (The Ballpart at Harbor Yard)

4:30 P.M Women's Softball vs. Queens (Home)

5:00 P.M. Passover dinner (Seder) in the Great Room.  All are welcome.

7:00 - 8:15 P.M. Come to the Commuter Lounge in theStudent Center for Monday Yoga

8:45 - 10:00 P.M. The Student Government Association will be hosting an event for students to give Election Speeches with a question and answer session in the Art Gallery of the ABC Building. Refreshments will be served. 

Tuesday, April 7

12:00 - 2:00 P.M. Enjoy healthy meals in the Twisted Cafe (Student Center Basement). All options under $5.00. 

12:00 - 2:00 P.M. If you are a Sophomore, make sure you attend the Student Government Association's Town Hall Meeting for your class in room 207/209 of the Student Center

12:15 - 1:30 P.M. Come to the Hub for a Poodle Treat, where the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. will be selling cookies, brownies and cupcakes

12:15 - 1:30 P.M. Come join Yoga with the Wellness Club in the Commuter Lounge.  

12:20 - 1:20 P.M. Come to the Discovery Pavilion in the Library to learn about Studying Abroad through distinguished awards, scholarships and faculty-led tours

12:20 - 1:20 P.M. If you a senior come to the Class of 2015 Town Hall Meeting in room 205 of the Student Center

5:30 - 6:00 P.M. The College of Public and International Affairs presents Robert Sammis who will be discussing "What You Need to Know about Doing Business In China" in the Tower Room of the ABC Building. There will be a wine and cheese reception for the first half hour of the event. 

7:13 - 9:00 P.M. The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will be hosting, "No Lye" in the Private Dining Room to talk about the chemicals that are in products we use on a day to day basis and organic alternatives. 

8:30 - 10:30 P.M. The International Student Services will be hosting, "Weddings Around the World" an event to exhibit and display weddings from around the world in the Great Room

Wednesday, April 8

11:30 - 1:30 P.M. The Office of Residential Life & Student Conduct will be hosting "UB Buzzing", where students will receive handouts and pledge against drunk driving in the lobbies of Cooper and Chaffee Hall. 

2:30 - 5:00 P.M. Join the Build On Group where you can dazzle decorate a phone case in room 207/209 of the Student Center

3:30 - 5:00 P.M. The Student Programming Board will be presenting "The Chocolate Factory" for Wacky Wednesday with chocolate covered fruit to celebrate the start of Spring in the Student Center Lobby

4:00 - 6:00 P.M. Join, "Taste of the World" in the Great Room, where there will be different foods from around the world courtesy of the Student Programming Board. 

6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Come to Knights End Cafe in the Student Center to listen to the Poetry Slam courtesy of the Columbus School. 

6:00 - 8:00 P.M. The Pi Sigma Alpha, National Political Science Honor Society will be presenting its 9th Annual Colloquium on "Education & Peace: Toward Sustainable Development" in the Art Gallery of the ABC Building

6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Come to the 6th Floor of the Library for Financial Aid Night, where students will watch a presentation about paying for college and have the opportunity to meet with their financial aid counselor. 

8:00 - 10:00 P.M. Join the sisters of the Chi Upsilon Sigma Sorority, Inc. for an Expresso informational in room 207/209 of the Student Center

8:30 - 10:00 P.M. Take a Zumba Dancing class in room 113 of the ABC building courtesy of the Student Programming Board. 

9:00 - 10:00 P.M. Join SLAM (Sophisticated Love of the Artistic Mind) if you are interested in expressing yourself through art, music, dance, spoken word or any other artistic outlet. SLAM will be meeting in the Twisted Cafe

9:22 - 11:00 P.M. Join the sisters of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. for their Spring Informational in the Great Room

Thursday, April 9

12:00 - 2:00 P.M. Enjoy healthy meals in the Twisted Cafe (Student Center Basement). All options under $5.00. 

3:00 P.M. Come support the Women's Lacrosse team versus Chestnut Hill at Knights Field

4:00 - 5:00 P.M. Join the International Student Services in the Great Room for a round table discussion on the Hijab and why women wear it.  You can also get a henna tattoo for taking part in the discussion. 

4:00 - 5:00 P.M. & 7:00 - 8:00 P.M. Come to the Social Room to see Fashion Merchandising's Spring Fashion show

4:30 P.M. If you are a Senior make sure you come to Knights End in the Student Center for a toast to graduation with your fellow classmates courtesy of the Office of Career Development and Alumni Relations. 

5:30 - 7:30 P.M. Join the Innovators Series, "Go Tell It On the mountain: Scaling the Heights of Emerging Growth Technologies" in the Art Gallery in the ABC Building

7:00 - 10:00 P.M. Join the Student Government Association for, "Knights Controversy." This panel of university students is modeled after "The View" talk show.  (Great Room) 

8:00 - 10:00 P.M. Join the Gospel Choir Church Service for a praise and workshop and discuss the bible in the Little Field room of the ABC building

Friday, April 10

1:00 - 5:00 P.M. The VITA Program will be helping international students file tax returns in the Private Dining Room of the Student Center

2:00 - 4:00 P.M. Come to People's Park (beside the John J. Cox Student Center) to celebrate HOLI Festival of Colors. Celebrated at the end of the winter season, Indians welcome the Spring season with colors. Get ready to throw colorful powder at your loved ones. Pass by with your white shirt, comfortable shoes and pants (which you do not mind getting stained with colorful powder). Indian Food will be served.
