The International College Orinentation
The International College held an introductory banquet at the beginning of the year on the fifth of September to welcome students and introduce new professors. Dr. Ward gave a welcoming address to the participants of the nights event. Refreshments were served and the evening played host to much lively conversation between students and professors getting to know and become familiar with others in their department.
New Professors
in the College were introduced, as well as current professors. Professor Mark
Setton, the visiting World Religion, Professor James Borton the new Mass Communications
professor, and Professor Daria Novak are new to this years teaching staff in the
International College.
The College's representatives Jimi Baughman and
Tamami Kawamura gave each an introductory speech about their responsibilities
as representatives of the International College.
The Mass Communications Department was welcomed into the International College. Professor Yanmin Yu gave some welcoming remarks to the Mass Communication students in attendance and the rest of the students and professors.
When asked about how she felt felt about the Mass Comm being moved to the IC, Evelina Katzi said she was very happy to have Dr Ward as the Dean of her College. "I really like Dr Ward, I really respect him and like the fact that he is so helpful and nice to the students in his college."
The program was a way for freshman and returning students alike to get acquainted with the College and the professors. Jory Cook, a World Religion major, said the event was "a good opportunity to get to know the professors and the programs of the International College."
Attendees
of the program were better equipt for the coming semester, leaving with greater
knowledge of the existing programs of the International College and a connection
