Student Loans and Grants

Educating yourself and your family about the many options for aid can be daunting. As your partner in the process, we provide detailed information and resources to assist in fulfilling your individual aid needs.

Grants are a form of financial assistance based on financial need that one does not need to repay. For grant considerations at the University of Bridgeport, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)* to determine eligibility.

Student Loans is money borrowed that must be repaid. To apply for most student loans, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)* to determine eligibility.


 Applying for Loans

To apply for Federal Direct Stafford loans all NEW students must complete Master Promissory Note * and Entrance Counseling *

To apply for a Federal Direct Parent PLUS * loan if the parent of the student needs additional financial assistance.

To apply for a Private Alternative Loan * we recommend you look at several options as interest and fees vary with each lender. All students who borrow with an alternative loan program MUST complete a Private Education Loan Applicant Self-Certification Form (PDF) and submit this form to his/her lender in order for the alternative loan to be complete and disburse. In order to complete this form, you will need to reference our Tuition and Fees brochure.
