Counseling Services FAQ

Who can use counseling services?
Counseling services are available to all registered students: full-time/part-time, undergraduate/graduate students.

What services are offered?
Counseling services offers a private and confidential atmosphere for students to talk about their personal worries and concerns about college life or life in general. Services are provided by professional staff. Psychiatric services and medication management are available as well.

How much does this service cost?
All services are free for students who are eligible.

Will things my student speaks about in counseling services be shared with others?
The answer to this question is no. Counseling services closely follows privacy laws that protect against information being shared. No information can be shared without the express written consent of the student. (See confidentiality page.)

How does counseling services handle emergencies?
The staff of counseling services is trained in crisis counseling. During office hours emergencies are handled immediately. In the case of an evening or weekend crisis; if your student lives on campus, he/she should call extension 4911 and the counselor will be notified. If your student lives off campus, he/she should call 911. (See emergencies page.)
