The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) serves more than 550 undergraduate and graduate students. Computer Science students consistently rank among the top 5 teams in the annual ACM (Association of Computing Machinery) programming contest. The department is home to the RISC (Robotics, Intelligent Sensing and Control) Laboratory, and has extensive research and development facilities in the areas of VLSI, FPGA, Image and Mixed signal processing, Networking, and general computing.

The undergraduate program in Computer Engineering is one of two ABET-accredited programs in the state of Connecticut. The Faculty of the CSE dept. are world recognized researchers in their repective fields. The CSE Dept. also has a weekend Masters Degree program in Computer Science, which is administered in the Stamford Campus. The CSE Dept. has strong relations with many local and regional industries and corporations.

CSE faculty help with the on-site training needs of these companies and many of the students work and do their internships and Co-ops in them.
