UB Design encourages students to enter design competitions in their fields. In addition to the prize monies, used to supplement their education, students gain valuable understanding of the workings and requirements of the professional design world.

Jacob Herman II :: Interior Design
- Jacob Herman II was awarded Honorable Mention
in the PAVE (Planning and Visual Education's Partnerships) National Retail
Design Store Competition, sponsored by Sony Electronics. The competition
was geared towards the four year college level design programs and this
year there were over 240 entries nationwide.
The Awards will be given at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel NYC, during the
Pave Annual Gala on December 5.

- Exhibited his painting, Pray, in the student exhibition of the New York Society of Illustrators Spring 2007.

Scott Gotheil-Yelle :: Industrial Design
- GNYDA (Greater New York Auto Dealers Association) held its World Traffic Safety Symposium Competition, and again a UB Design Industrial Design student won the top prize with his entry, Grid Works, a system for tracking driver attention and alerting when that attention strays.

Double Win
Two UB Design students won top honors in the annual Student Design Competition of rotationally molded products held by the Asociation of Rotational Molders International and sponsored by NOVA Chemicals Corporation. The design projects submitted by three students out of an impressive field of more than 40 entrants were selected as the best in this year's Student Design Competition of rotationally molded products.

- Third place, for Pull-Ski, which is a craft for children that would be pulled behind a boat.
