My UB To-Do List
Whether you are an incoming Freshmen or Transfer student, review the following checklist to ensure you are following all the necessary steps to complete your enrollment.
1. Apply for Financial Aid
To apply for financial aid, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid after January 1 of your senior year. For official filing deadlines, visit http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/.
2. Complete and Return Your Aid Package
On March 1, UB begins processing financial aid packages for those students who have completed their FAFSA. Once you received your financial aid package, complete and sign the enclosed form and return it to the Financial Aid Office.
3. Complete and Return your “Confirmation of Undergraduate Admissions Acceptance” form
Complete your “Confirmation of Undergraduate Admissions Acceptance” form that came in your acceptance packet and mail to the Admissions Office with your $200 tuition deposit. (The deadline for submission of this form is May 3.)
4. Complete and Return the Housing License and Meal Contract form
If you wish to live on campus, please print and complete the Housing License and Meal Contract forms and mail them to the Office of Residential Life with your $200 housing deposit. (Please note that the deadline for submitting your Housing Deposit is Saturday, July 20, 2013.)
5. Complete and Return the Health History Form
Return the required Health History Form, including proof of measles, rubella, meningitis and tuberculosis immunizations to Health Services. While there is no deadline for submission, these forms must be submitted before you may register for classes.
6. Choose a Registration Date
Find a registration date that is right for you. UB offers three separate registration sessions. The first two of these dates, called S.T.A.R. (Summer Transition, Advisement, and Registration) programs, are scheduled in June and July. The third session coincides with “New Student Orientation” in August. You only need to attend one S.T.A.R. session. New Student Orientation is mandatory for all students.
7. Prepare for Move-in
As you prepare for move-in day, print out a copy of our What to Bring to Campus list to make sure you don’t forget anything!
8. Pay Tuition, Complete Entrance Interview and Master Promissory Note
Pay your UB tuition and fee bill or make arrangements with the Financial Aid Office to set up a payment plan before the start of classes. If you have taken out loans to cover a portion of your tuition, don’t forget to complete your Entrance Interview and sign your Master Promissory Note (MPN).
9. Follow Up on Any Remaining Tuition Balance
If you have a remaining balance not covered by loans, contact the Office of the Bursar to pay in full or set up a payment plan with Tuition Management Systems (TMS) before the start of the semester. Those interested in payment plan options should determine the cost of attending the University for the coming year, subtract all net financial aid received (not including Federal Work-Study), and budget the remaining balance through TMS.
10. View Your Health Coverage
All full-time undergraduate students are required to participate and are automatically enrolled in UB’s Health Insurance Plan at registration and charges are automatically added to student accounts. You may view coverage information at www.chpstudent.com.
11. Optionally Waive Your UB Health Insurance
Proof of comparable coverage and either a completed Insurance Waiver Form or a completed Online Waiver are required to waive the insurance and must be provided by October 1.
