Application Tips

All applicants are strongly advised to read the following tips before they apply.

Only apply one way

There are two ways to apply, applying using a paper application OR applying online. You MUST ONLY CHOOSE ONE WAY to submit your application. Applying using the paper application is the fastest, easiest way for you to submit your application and is our preferred method for receiving applications.

Both ways take the same amount of time. Applying online does NOT mean that your application will be processed quicker. Applying using the paper application can be faster than applying online.

Online applications are processed ONLY AFTER your admission materials have been received in the mail and you have paid the application fee of $50.

Using the paper application will allow you to take advantage of our premium processing service, which is NOT available when applying online. The cost for this service is $90 which ensures that you will receive your acceptance letter and I-20 Form via courier service if you are admitted into the University of Bridgeport. The $90 includes the $50 application fee + $40 courier service cost of UPS Worldwide Express which normally takes 3-5 business days to deliver international mail.

Applicants requesting premium processing MUST send in their paper applications along with a NON-REFUNDABLE Application Fee of $90 – bank check or money order – drawn on a U.S. bank and made payable to the University of Bridgeport. Please note that premium processing is NOT available for online applicants.

Fill out the application clearly and carefully

You need to be very careful when filling out your application, especially if you’re using the paper application. Your handwriting MUST be CLEAR so we could read the information you provide us with. We suggest you TYPE up your application especially if your handwriting in not clear.

Make sure the information you write on your application is as it appears on your passport

Make sure you write your name, date of birth, country of birth, and country of citizenship as they appear on your passport. Your LAST (surname, family) name and your FIRST (given) name MUST be CLEARLY mentioned on your application. Students with no Last (surname, family) names mentioned on their passports MUST obtain new passports that CLEARLY state their Last and First names. Applications with no last names will NOT be processed.

If you don’t have a passport at the time of applying, you need to use your birth certificate as a reference. You will eventually need to obtain a passport to enable you to apply for a U.S. Student Visa.

Provide a personal e-mail address

You MUST provide ONE personal permanent e-mail address. This e-mail will be used for all future correspondence with you. Do NOT change your e-mail after applying or share it with other applicants when applying online or when submitting a paper application.

If an educational consultant/agent is preparing your application, he/she MUST still use your personal e-mail address in addition to the e-mail address of his/her company.
