Tutor Job Description:
Student Support Services is currently hiring professional and peer tutors. Tutoring will be conducted in an individualized or small group setting in our Learning Center. Tutors are responsible for fostering and facilitating a positive, collaborative learning environment for our students. Tutors should feel comfortable working with academically and socially diverse students.
Professional Tutors
Interviews will be extended to qualified applicants. Please note that this decision is based on the applicant’s academic qualifications and our SSS-students’ academic needs for the semester. Successful applicants will be contacted by telephone and email and your tutoring schedule will be set up.
Subjects:
Math, English, Chemistry, Biology, and Human Services. other subject areas as requested
Hours:
Tutors will be scheduled during various time slots between the hours of 10am and 7pm Monday through Thursday. Friday and weekend hours are also available, depending on student need. These hours are subject to change, depending on tutor availability
Training:
Tutors must attend mandatory training workshops and staff meetings during the semester.
Periodic check-ins with the Learning Specialist and Academic Coordinator are also mandatory for the duration of employment.
Compensation:
Peer and Professional tutors will be compensated depending on experience. Compensation will be discussed during interview.
