William E. Greenspan served as Professor of Business Law at the University of Bridgeport for 44 years, teaching Business Law courses, publishing articles, performing service to UB and to the community, and mentoring fellow colleagues, staff, and students. Since tax year 2006 he has been the Site Coordinator and Quality Reviewer for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Clinic sponsored by the IRS and which he and his trained volunteers have been helping thousands of international students fill out their tax returns each year. UB was the first VITA site for international students in Connecticut. He has advised thousands of students during his tenure, and chaired several committees, including the Student Appeals Committee and the Faculty Appeals Committee.

On May 31, 2014, at the UB Full Board of Trustees meeting, the Board passed a resolution unanimously to appoint Dr. William E. Greenspan as Professor Emeritus. Dr. Greenspan continues volunteering at UB, running the VITA tax clinic, helping students find internships and jobs, writing letters of recommendation, giving students advice on career choices, and maintaining the Web page for his professional association – The North Atlantic Regional Business Law Association – www.narbla.org.
