Gretchen Rauch Cianciola RDH, MEd is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Fones School of Dental Hygiene, University of Bridgeport, Bridgeport, Connecticut. Gretchen began her career as a clinical educator at Fones as Adjunct Clinical Faculty in 2010 where she assisted in the clinical education of both first and second year students until she earned her Masters of Education in 2013. Gretchen is responsible for supervising patient care management of second year students at the Fones Clinic and Yale New Haven Hospital’s Adult and Pediatric Dental Center located in Hamden, Connecticut. Her lecture experience consists of Dental Materials which includes three lab sections and Advanced Clinical Concepts in Dental Hygiene. She is also Adjunct Faculty for the University of Bridgeport’s IDEAL program where she teaches Advanced Clinical Concepts in Dental Hygiene in Fones’ BSDH distance learning program.
Gretchen has presented at professional conferences and is actively involved with the Connecticut Dental Hygienist’s Association where she serves as director of ConnHYPAC. She is involved in the University of Bridgeport’s College Personnel Committee, is acting Student Advisor for the American Dental Hygienist’s Association – Fones Chapter, and actively volunteers for program promotional events and community outreach activities. Her areas of interest include political action for the realization of the dental hygiene mid-level provider in Connecticut, improving access of care for the underserved, and supporting online education teaching methodologies.
