Professor Susan Katz is an award-winning writer/producer/director/creative lead with over 25 years experience serving Fortune 500 corporations, marketing and advertising agencies and political campaigns with concept development through completion services in digital and traditional media—web, film, video, radio and print.
Prof. Katz engages students with her real-world, hands-on pedagogical style. She works vigorously with her classes encouraging them to develop portfolio-worthy media collateral they can use to find work. She brings her expertise and spirited and practical approach to all her classes.
Recognized in the media industry, Prof. Katz has received the following communications awards:
American Assoc. Political Consultants Pollie Awards, Campaigns & Elections magazine Reed Award finalist, Telly Awards, New York Festivals, Worldfest Charleston Film Festival, Assoc. of Visual Communicators Cindy Awards, International Television Assoc. Connecticut Vision Awards.
In addition to working in the television, radio, newspaper and magazine industry, she served as a member of the faculty at the Women’s Campaign School at Yale University for 15 years. She founded Katzing Creative Ways, a full-service production company in 1985.
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Prof. Katz holds a B.A. with Honors from Brooklyn College/School of Visual Media and Performing Arts; a Certificate in Filmmaking from New York University/Tisch School of the Arts; and an M.S. with Distinction from Quinnipiac University/School of Communication.
She served on the International Television Assoc. Board of Governors and the Connecticut Assoc. of Production Professionals Executive Council. She is listed in Marquis’ Who’s Who of American Women, Who’s Who in Entertainment and other biographical publications.
