Biography

Janet Albert is an Associate Professor of Fashion Merchandising and Retailing in the School of Business at the University of Bridgeport. Professor Albert is a graduate of Syracuse University(BS) and New York University (MA). Professor Albert began her career as a Market Research Analyst, concentrating in the fashion markets for Dun & Bradstreet. Her career continued as a Fashion Director for the Chemical/plastics division of a major corporation, specializing in manufacturing materials for footwear and apparel. Additionally, she worked as an adjunct professor , for the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising in New York City. Professor Albert's major areas of teaching are Textiles, Advertising and Sales Promotion , Professional Development and Sales Strategy, Costume History, and Fashion Fundamentals. Professor Albert has made a number of presentations in the area of professional growth and dressing for success to many organizations and local colleges, and published an article in the textile field and researched product development software in merchandising for use in the classroom In addition, Professor Albert has been President of the University Faculty, Secretary to the University Senate and Chair of the Faculty Employment Concerns Committee. Also, Professor Albert has been selected by students in the Scribe, the University newspaper, as one of the "ten most outstanding professors" on Campus. Professor Albert is married to Attorney Martin Albert and they reside in Westport, Ct.
