Biography
Dr. Beth Skott is an Assistant Professor of Sociology and the Chair of the Social Science program. She advises Social Science students studying Sociology, Criminal Justice, Pre-law, Psychology and History. She assists in the teaching and oversight of the Criminology track within the Criminal Justice and Human Security program. At the undergraduate level, some of her more popular courses include SOC 204 Marriage and Family, SOC 315 Criminology, SOC 118 Introduction to Criminal Justice and SOC 270 Social Deviance. Dr. Skott also teaches Research Methods at both the undergraduate and graduate level. She serves as the faculty advisor to Pi Gamma Mu, the international Honor Society for the Social Sciences.
Research Interests
Her research to date has primarily been in the areas of teaching and
learning, but she is also conducting research in the Sociology of
Martial Arts. She proudly received her yellow belt in Tae Kwon Do here
at UB. Lastly, she is currently working with an International College
Alumna on a Research Methods textbook.
