Dr. Daniel Cervonka is a Physician Associate and graduate of Yale University School of Medicine. After graduating from Yale, Dr. Cervonka began his career in Emergency Medicine at Yale. During that time he held the appointment of Lecturer in Surgery (Emergency Medicine). In addition to his clinical duties he was responsible for teaching residents, physician associate and medical students and coordinating clinical teaching schedule.

Dr. Cervonka left Yale to assume the position of Associate Director of the Physician Assistant Department at Cornell University Medical College. Cornell at the time was in the process of a major curricular  review and overhaul  Dr. Cervonka evaluated the curriculum and in concert with teaching faculty guided the curriculum  and processes to achieved reaccreditation.

Dr. Cervonka returned to clinical practice accepting the position of Chief Physician Associate at Griffin Hospital, a community based hospital and Yale affiliate. During his tenure, he grew and mentored a cadre of Physician Associates to fifteen full and part time clinicians. Additionally, he established a teaching program in Emergency Medicine for both physician assistants and nurse practitioners that continue to this day.

Dr. Cervonka returned once again to Yale to the practice of Internal Medicine, working with patients with psychiatric and substance abuse issues. During his time at Yale, Dr. Cervonka devoted a portion of his time to developing and educating nurses, medical students and residents in the medical aspects associated with the care of psychiatric patients.

In addition to the teaching responsibilities listed above Dr. Cervonka holds or has held appointments with Quinnipiac University, University of New England, A.T Still University, Nova Southeastern University and Yale University School of Nursing. Throughout his career, he has taught both Master's and Doctoral level clinical courses, Medical Writing and Global Health. Dr. Cervonka’s strong interest in Global Health led to the founding of One World Medicine and he recently completed his responsibilities as President of this non-profit medical mission organization.

Dr. Cervonka brings to the position  a twenty one year career devoted to teaching, clinical service and administration to now benefit the University of Bridgeport.

His credentials include:

• Bachelor of Science in Social and Health Services with a dual concentration in Psychology from Roger Williams University
• Physician Associate from Yale University School of Medicine
• Master of Physician Assistant Studies in Emergency Medicine from University of Nebraska College of Medicine and
• Doctor of Health Science from Nova Southeastern University, College of Allied Health and Nursing.

Dr. Cervonka maintains overall responsibility for the Physician Assistant Institute including organization, administration, fiscal management and continuous review, analysis, planning and development.
