Jennifer Brett, ND, L.Ac.

Dr. Jennifer Brett, ND, L.Ac. is the director of the UB Acupuncture Institute. She graduated in 1987 from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine and graduated in 1988 from the Tri-State Institute of Traditional Chinese Acupuncture. She is currently the chair of two University of Bridgeport committees (Academic Technology Subcommittee and Clinic Coordinating Committee); chair of two Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (CCAOM) Committees (CCAOM Distance Learning Committee and CCAOM Research Committee) and a member of the ACCAHC (Academic Consortium for Complementary and Alternative Health Care) Education Working Group.

Dr. Brett worked to create an MS-Acupuncture program in which students and graduates become productive, caring and responsible citizens and skilled healthcare professionals. By providing an outstanding professional education, the UB program’s graduates have exceptionally high level of clinical skills and have the commitment and judgment necessary to act in the service of others.
 
Since the time that Jennifer Brett graduated in 1989, the respect for acupuncture in the medical community has grown significantly. Recently, integrative medicine, defined as a healthcare system that is multidisciplinary and enhances competence, mutual respect and collaboration across all healthcare disciplines, has embraced acupuncture and as a result, acupuncturists now practice in hospitals and multidisciplinary healthcare settings. It is Dr. Brett’s vision that acupuncturists become respected members of the healthcare community in all its various functions from acute in-patient care to chronic, ambulatory care, research and training.
