After twenty-seven years in private practice and the completion of her
B.S. degree, Ms. Garcia began her teaching career at the University as
a part-time clinical instructor in Radiology and Second Year Clinic.
Her responsibilities then increased to teaching Pharmacology, Head,
Neck and Dental Anatomy, Dental Hygiene Internship, Public Health and
Contemporary Dental Hygiene Practice. Currently she teaches Leadership,
Evidence-Based Research and Program Development and Management on the
Master’s level. She joined the full-time faculty in 2003 as Community
Rotation Coordinator and was appointed to coordinate the B.S. degree
completion and M.S.D.H. online programs.
She was elected into Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society and was
included on the National Dean’s List in Spring 2002. Spring 2010 she
was elected to Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. She completed her MS degree
in 2004 and Ed.D. in 2011 both at the University of Bridgeport. Wendy
was one of the first dental hygienists certified to administer local
anesthesia in the State of Connecticut and co-teaches the CE course for
R.D.H.’s.
Ms. Garcia’s professional affiliations include the American Dental
Educators Association, International Federation of Dental Hygienists,
American Academy of Dental Hygiene, American Dental Hygienists’
Association, Connecticut Dental Hygienists’ Association, and local
component associations. She has been active in numerous positions in
the Association and is a Past President of CDHA 2004-2005.
