Biography

Sandra received her AS degree from the Fones School of Dental Hygiene in 1977, practicing dental hygiene for many years across the country before returning to the University to complete her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Dental Hygiene education. Sandra began her teaching career at the Fones School as an adjunct professor and joined the faculty as a full time Clinical Assistant Professor in 2007, teaching in both freshman and senior clinics. Recently introducing magnification into the program, her areas of specialty include ergonomics and research. Sandra also teaches Dental Hygiene Research in the BS Online Program. Academic honors include graduating Summa Cum Laude, recipient of the Capstone Writing Prize, the DENTSPLY/ADHA Graduate Student Research Award, and President’s List recipient. Sandra has served as Thesis Chair for Master’s degree candidates. She has presented original research at the American Dental Hygienists’ Association Annual Session, and has published in the Journal of Dental Hygiene.

Sandra is an active member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, and the Connecticut Dental Hygienists’ Association, serving as President in 2010-2011, President Elect, Vice President, Secretary, Membership Chair and delegate to Annual Session.
