Biography
Laura has been a faculty member at the Fones School since 1991 and serves as Senior Clinic Supervisor in addition to teaching Clinical Practice III and IV, Advanced Clinical Concepts and mentoring BS and MS degree students. Past positions include clinical instruction in freshman clinic; clinical manager and dental radiology and outreach clinic instructor.
Laura’s University activities include Co-Chair of the Health Sciences Promotion/Retention Committee and representation on the Academic Dishonesty Committee. Professional affiliations include membership of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, Connecticut Dental Hygienists’ Association and currently serves as Vice President of the Bridgeport Dental Hygienists’ Association. Laura remains active as Student Advisor to the American Dental Hygienists’ Association and with continuing education engagements, specializing in faculty education and calibration, teaching and learning styles, patient care management, advanced clinical concepts, ergonomics, professional responsibility and ethics. Ms. Greco has published clinical feature articles on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Thyroid Cancer in the American Dental Hygienists’ Association publication Access. Recent professional presentations include clinical teaching strategies and faculty team calibration topics at the Fones School of Dental Hygiene annual Educators Workshop and continuing education course How to Deal with Difficult Patients: Improve patient compliance while treating the challenging patient? for local dental hygienists with fellow Fones faculty member. With the addition of local anesthesia to the Dental Hygiene Practice Act for the State of Connecticut, Laura developed and coordinates the Fones School of Dental Hygiene Local Anesthesia course. This course is designed for both registered dental hygienists and Fones students.
In addition to a teaching career, Laura has many years of dental hygiene private practice experience in New York State, as well as Connecticut.
